Denmark's contribution to EXPO 2012 in Yeosu, South Korea - Denmark Horizon – shares the Danish experience of coastline and sea and corresponds well with the exposition’s main theme (“The Living Ocean and Coast”). On entering the exhibition's main room, one enters the horizon, a 360° projection of film sequences from the Danish coastline and waters. The footage depicts Danish life by the sea and how water is utilized for recreation, industry and energy.

Together with COBE and MT Højgaard, we developed a design concept whereby the lighting and technical systems that help to create a unified sensual experience with exciting variations and contrasts.

Lighting and technical support experience
The technical solutions are incorporated in the pavilion design and concept, allowing the audience to get a picturesque impression that embraces both sensory and physical experience. The exhibition is set off by a lighting concept using daylight and various forms of artificial lighting to vary the experience between rooms.

Exterior lighting of the circular frame is used to illuminate and lend a magical element to the dark interior. The outer wall design includes deep niches and graphics that depict the results of Danish innovation, industry and technology. In the Business Centre, daylight is filtered through a textile fabric to form a natural light experience in contrast to the artificial lighting of the exhibition section.
